The mechanic

Stories are version-controlled. Like code, but with characters.

Canon

The original author writes the main branch. Their voice, their universe, their call on what's official.

Fork

Any reader can fork from any chapter. You own everything you write from your divergence point onward.

Merge

Submit a merge request. If the canon author accepts, your contribution becomes part of the official storyline.

Community first

No platform politics on top of fandoms. The contributor agreement is open-source-style: you own your words, forks are encouraged, attribution travels with every chapter.

Originals only

No Marvel, no Naruto, no copyright minefields. Stories on Forklore are written by people like you — which is exactly what makes them safe to remix.

Adaptation-ready

Every contribution is recorded with timestamps and weights. When a story goes audiobook, film, or series, the credits and payouts are already calculable.
